Join LeesPlay on a tutorial series going through the basics of creating a new level with Tomb Editor and Tomb Engine. He will take you from the very basics to more advanced concepts with the outcome being to create your very own Lost Valley! Watch out for the king of the dinosaurs!

Installation/Getting Started #

Learn the fundamentals about what Tomb Engine and Tomb Editor is and how to properly install the open-sourced software needed to begin creating your adventure.

Part One: Building your first rooms. #

In the very first lesson, we will be building an underground Waterfall Cave based off “The Lost Valley” of Tomb Raider (1996) and texturing the room with basic techniques.

Part Two: Connecting Rooms & Better Texturing #

In this second tutorial, we will be a variety of tunnels, caverns for Lara to platform and do some climbing and bouldering, before she makes her way outside into The Lost Valley. We’ll look at how to connect rooms together using a “Door” or a “Portal” and more intermediate texturing techniques to make your level look better!

Part Three: Building exterior locations #

In the next part you will be shown how to build outside exterior environments for Lara to run around in and we build our first Temple as we re-create The Lost Valley!

Part Four: Aha! Let’s go for a swim! #

Following on from part 3: I will be showing you how to build swimming pools and water filled rooms for Lara Croft to swim around in, along with more complex tunnels and secret caves. We also learn more about stacking rooms vertically so we can build temple roof tops for Lara to explore.
